These paintings are studies of my favorite restaurant, "La Berengerie". It's on Galiano Island but it could be in Provence, Greece, Moroco, Spain, or Mexico. The transporting charm of the place never fails to impress me when I step through the door. As subject matter it plays into my longtime fascination with the latent energy of still life. Many thanks to proprietor Huguette Benger for letting me spend so many after-hours in her beautiful restaurant. If a series needs a name I think this one has to be called...
