Dance at the Community Hall

Our little Galiano Hall was built in 1924 as a place for the community
to gather and enjoy music, dancing and each other.
For many decades it was the heart of the community very like
other community halls across the country, remnants of the time
not long past when the population was largely rural .

Though these paintings depict specific, personally experienced events,
the images are typical of similar halls across the continent.
Such events have become part of the North American folk mythology.
